The Community Foundation For San Benito County is one of over 600 community foundations around the country. Although they vary somewhat, all community foundations share a common purpose: they serve as bridges between donors in the community and the institutions whose collective mission is to improve the quality of life for everyone.
Community foundations make grants to community groups from funds established by individuals, families, businesses, and others that want to support the work of nonprofits, schools, and other groups that address community concerns.
Community foundations are knowledgeable about the communities they serve and the choices available to donors to help them reach their philanthropic and financial goals.

They are governed by community leaders and are accountable to the communities they serve.

While community foundations focus on the regions where they are located, they are able to direct grants to groups anywhere in the country, and internationally, in order to fulfill donors' interests.
To ensure that resources will be available for many years, community foundations focus on establishing endowed funds that grow over time. The income earned on these funds is available for grant making.

Community foundations are nonprofit organizations established to meet the current and future needs of our local communities. We are also a trusted and valuable resource to individuals, families and their professional advisors.

Three distinct features:
When you give through your community foundation...

You receive personalized service. We work closely with you to develop a giving approach that matches your personal interests. For example, we can help you establish a charitable fund in your name and remain actively involved in recommending uses for your fund. If you prefer, we can help you give anonymously.
You gain local expertise. Our professional program staff monitors all areas of community need - including human services, education, the environment, health care, the arts, and economic development. We can help you learn more about local agencies and programs that make a difference in the areas you care about most.
You support community leadership. We bring people and organizations together, convening diverse voices to address local issues and opportunities. Our business is building community. With a planned gift to The Community Foundation For San Benito County, you can provide funding in peretuity for the causes you are most passionate about.
